Quite a change of pace during the month of June, as we have a few extravaganzas coming our way, with a couple of side tournaments and weeklies/bi-weeklies to occupy your free time as well. The Biggest Melee Tournament Since Brawl Came Out in Georgia (Riverdale, GA: June 7th-8th)

Melee hasn’t won’t die, plain and simple. The tournament’s blunt and self-explanatory title is no hyperbole; it is THE biggest Melee tournament since the release of the family-friendly extension of the franchise entitled Super Smash Bros. Brawl, was released earlier this earlier. There has been an abundance of support for the 7 year old fan favorite from amateurs and professional players alike who refuse to disregard the intense experience that Melee provides. Because of the support the GA boys have managed to garner, the projected conclusion from this methodical arrangement of ’smashers’ proves to provide over 150 smashers nationwide to provide anyone with lingering feelings of some raw “competitive Bros.” a chance to compete in the game they live by.

The two-days of awesomeness (June 7th & 8th) with encompass singles, teams and crew battles caroled by unmitigated skill and supreme talent from many crevices of the United States. From Canada, to Georgia (w00t), players will aggressively demolish one another until only one remains, Melee style. The spacious venue will comfortably suit every competitor and onlooker, guaranteeing a suitable atmosphere, pending that everyone jurisdiction of the tourney hosts and their “Deodorant Rule”. Impact Clash at the Georgia World Congress Center (Atlanta, GA: June 28th)

The Zenith Gaming league is hosting it’s first Impact clash Fighting Game Tournament in Atlanta, GA. The Zenith Gaming crew aspire to introduce southern gamers to the elusive professional gaming atmosphere that dedicated fighting games deserve. The Impact Clash series is one of many tournaments that hosts many events that cater to fans of many videogame genres. This one, as the name suggests, is strictly for the fighters. From Street Fighter to Marvel Vs. Capcom, there will be more than 14 separate games with the ability to provide singular platform for respectable competition will be in this arena. Usually, there is only one event to look forward to but as of now, with the scale that Zenith Gaming is preparing for their turn of events, this, as well as it’s future events/expos could be of epic proportions, and as a responsible representative of the evolution of competitive gaming and it’s community, it would be gracious for all of us as a collective unit to assist in planting the seeds of development in order to cultivate the reinvention of gaming in the south. Come on out and enjoy a weekend with peers and friends and celebrate everything that revolves around fighting videogames.

Weekly/Bi-Weekly Tournaments:

EVO Registration is live. The biggest fighting game tournament in the nation is now entering it’s pre-registration phase, taking all competitors in wake of it’s 10 year celebration. EVO in Vegas is promising to be an extravagent premise for serious fighters searching for a competitive platform to prove their dominance. If you’ve got what it takes, sign up today.

(The events are arranged by scale/size/awesomeness and then chronological order. Any tips or help with tourney notifications are much appreciated.

On another note, I was thinking about a possible expansion of this portion of the site to feature other large tournaments happening in other states relatively close to Georgia, so leave some feedback on your thoughts and what not.)

That’s an interesting write up comparing Citizen Kane to MGS4. And while I agree with all your points regarding the two, I think your being just a tad too hard on MGS4.
While I understand that there’s always room for constructive criticism, and improvement, MGS4 did an awesome job ending it’s sequel.

Yes, the AI was completely unrealistic (on normal mode), along with difficult gun play (which it isn’t meant for), overall I still think MGS4 was a great game and shouldn’t be called a “homeless guy, trying to buy a mansion, wandering from car to car, offering to clean windshields just for a couple of bucks” compared to Citizen Kane.

Thanks alot for the compliment. The comparisons were in response to the discussions about the topic of Metal Gear Solid 4 and it’s parallel in terms of importance to the industry. Before I start, I like Metal Gear Solid. The entire franchise intrigues me, and draws my attention. Regardless of my personal tastes, the harsh criticism cultivates from the comparison to such an important landmark (Citizen Kane). It does always make you look like the bad guy when you’re attempting to justify why a game is bad, and display it’s dull points, but in this case, it’s as if we’re (as an industry) comparing Panic At The Disco (they’re horrible, take my word) to the Beatles, and left with the goal to distinguish the two, and obviously, that is unjust. I admit it though, the ending lines were a little harsh, and saddening since I like the franchise, but the metaphor at the end didn’t at least bring a little smile to your face? Is it considered a contradiction or too late to say I kind of want to play MGS4 again? ;)
